Lynn Topp abducted

-- The 19-year-old Darke County woman disappeared while jogging. Her body was found two weeks later and the primary suspect was found dead also, apparently of a suicide.

Execution delayed

-- The Supreme Court delays what would have been Ohio's first execution in 35 years. "The Volunteer," Wilford Berry had waived all appeals.

633 Homewood Ave.

-- Three children died within six weeks at the home of Phillip Moreland, 633 Homewood Ave. And on 3-6-98 Moreland committed suicide.

School funding

-- Under a deadline imposed by the Ohio Supreme Court, the Legislature devised a new funding formula for local schools, but left it to voters to decide on a proposed tax.

Glenn heads back to space

-- Ohio Sen. John Glenn won NASA approval to return to space aboard a shuttle 36 years after his historic 1962 flight.

Line of duty

-- A Centerville police officer and a Washington Twp firefighter were killed in the line of duty on Jan. 12, 1998 when they were struck by a car while investigating an accident on an icy stretch of I-675.

Baseball in Dayton?

--Dayton and Trotwood dueled for the right to bring a minor league baseball team to the Miami Valley.

The Wilmington shootout

-- the Kehoe brothers brought to trial.
