Three family members killed in
arson fire; grandson charged

Flowers were placed in front of the remains of Ivory and Ophelia Franklin's home at 39 Riegal St.
  At 2 a.m. on April 18, 1997, firefighters responded to a house fire at 39 S. Riegel St., and discovered three bodies inside.
  The victims were Ivory Franklin, 75, his wife, Ophelia, 71, and their son Anthony, 38.

  On April 21 police charged the couple's grandson Antonio Sanchez Franklin with murder.
  On Aug. 21, 1998 Franklin was convicted of the three murders. On Aug. 26 he was sentenced to death.
